Working Fields is a mission based staffing agency with a primary focus on second chance hires. Second chance hires are those individuals who are in the early stages of recovery from substance use addiction and are having difficulty obtaining a job due to their background. Working Fields operates as any other staffing agency and in addition provides support to the Individuals while on assignment. Utilizing a Recovery Coaching Model, initial and weekly coaching sessions are conducted providing the best opportunity for success for the Individual while on the job.

We are a mission based temporary staffing agency located in Burlington Vermont. The business was organized on November 10, 2016 and opened its first office on January 2, 2017.

The Working Fields mission is based on helping individuals build productive lives through employment opportunities and helping employers provide solutions in communities where they live and work.  We do this by utilizing recovery coaching techniques to assist in qualifying an individual’s recovery credentials as well as to provide ongoing support and monitoring while individuals are placed on assignment within a Vermont Business.

We are currently a team of two working primarily in Chittenden, Franklin, Washington and Addison Counties. Our goal is to establish ourselves by building a reputation of placing second chance hires successfully. To fully cover the State of Vermont, additional staff and offices will be added. Local presence in a community will allow us to better serve the individuals we will be placing into Vermont businesses.

With a low unemployment rate, Vermont employers are struggling to meet to meet their hiring needs. At the same time, there is a population of employees that most employers are not finding. Most of us are aware that Substance Use Disorder has reached nearly epidemic proportions. The community has worked hard to develop treatment solutions. Once treatment is completed, the majority need to find employment. The task of finding employment is many times complicated due to legal issues encountered during active addiction leading to a record. Successful recovery highly depends on employment. Our work allows us to help those in early recovery be successful as well provide companies great employees.

Working Fields has a growth plan of placing approximately 30 individuals into Vermont Businesses within the first year of operations. Although we do not plan to stop there, maintaining that level of placements will provide cash flow sustainability for the Company. From there, we can continue to expand our reach into other communities with a business model that is innovative and works towards creating solutions for individuals that need a second chance and Employers that need to find good employees. Investing in Working Fields will provide the capital needed to make this happen.
